Telecel Zimbabwe has increased to 23 the number of countries to which calls can be made at the same cost as a local call, adding four African, one South American, seven European and three Asian countries to its cheap call destinations.
It has also reduced the cost of SIM cards to one dollar, as a special offer during the World Cup. The card comes with a special bonus of one dollar’s worth of pre-loaded airtime that can be used when calling other Telecel numbers.
Telecel introduced the cheap international phone rate in February this year. The destinations to which Telecel customers have already been able to make calls for the same cost as a local call are the United Kingdom, United States, South Africa, Canada, Australia, China, India and Dubai.
Now it is also possible to call for the same cost as a local call Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Egypt, Brazil, Germany, France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Cyprus, Russia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.
Calls to all 23 destinations from Telecel lines can be made for just 25 cents per minute, the same cost as the standard charge for local calls from a mobile phone.
The charge is the same no matter at what time of day the call is made and whether the call is to a mobile phone or landline in the country being called. The only exceptions are calls to MTN and Vodafone numbers in the United Kingdom and South Africa, which are charged for at the slightly higher rate of 35 cents per minute.
Other new services Telecel has introduced include a call-me-back facility and a missed call alert.
The missed call alert means that if one is travelling, for instance, and out of range of the network when someone tries to call, an alert will sound as soon as one enters an area with network coverage. The alert message will state who was trying to call.
as discussed we must look at Telecel as a exclusive rate
