paris_mashile.gifSouth Africa’s Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has pledged its commitment to make consumers aware of their right to communication.
ICASA, which regulates the country’s telecommunications sector, is currently holding consumer rights roadshows to that effect.

“The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) will be hosting consumer rights roadshows across the country. The purpose for the roadshows is to create awareness to consumers about their right to access communication services relating to electronic communications, broadcasting and postal services,” the organisation said.

The roadshows will be attended amongst others by ICASA councilors and executive management, the licensees and various stakeholders. Furthermore, the Roadshows will provide a platform for the authority, licensees and stakeholders to interface with the public, disseminate information as well as enabling the authority to receive consumer complaints from the remote areas of our country, ICASA said.

The roadshows have already been held in East London, Limpopo and Mpumalanga among other while a similar one was held in North West on Tuesday.

Upcoming roadshows are scheduled for KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape.

The shows end on March 7 in the Western Cape.
