Nigerian ministry preparing robust ICT policy
According to Nigerian Minister of Communication and Technology Omobola Johnson, the ministry is working on a draft Information and Communications and Technology (ICT)Â policy. The announcement was made during a stakeholders forum in Lagos last week.
She said the ministry set up an ad hoc committee to compile a robust unified policy.
“Today, we are here to discuss on the harmonised draft ICT policy, aimed at enhancing the robustness of the policy,” the minister said.
Johnson also said the ministry in January this year asked for stakeholders’ comments to assist in their work.
Prof. Raymond Akwule, committee chairman, said they were reviewing existing policies. He added that comments received bordered on the structure, substance and content of the policy document.
Dr. Ibrahim Daudu, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, said inputs by all stakeholders would be taken into consideration.
