Heads of IT have one of the most difficult management roles in a company and are generally unprepared to move from their technology roles to management. In order to break through into these roles, heads of IT need to step up their game and not only become influencers in their professions – but also evolve into leaders.
However, before you can lead others, one must first learn to manage yourself. Leadership is not so much a position you hold as it is a set of disciplines and behaviors that you practice, the first and most fundamental of which is self-discipline. A leader without self-discipline may be a disaster waiting to happen. By honing in on fundamental skills as well as self-discipline, heads of IT can essentially make waves in the industry and become the future leaders of IT within their company.
Taking place from 11 – 12 November 2014, at The Gordon Institute of Business Science in Johannesburg, heads of IT will have the opportunity to take advantage of the Principles of IT Leadership Workshop. The workshop has been designed for anyone who has responsibility for managing an IT support organisation or who is being positioned to manage such an organisation.
To guide and assist attendees, top IT influencers will be offering crucial knowledge on the following topics:
+ Key traits of a successful IT manager
+ IT Assessment
+ Developing an IT strategy that gets exco’s buy-in
