Organizers of the second annual TMT Finance and Investment Africa conference said the main discussion points would be infrastructure investment and merger and acquisition strategies. The conference brings leading telecom executives, financiers and advisors to London to meet on the latest happenings in the telecommunications industry in Africa.
The event is scheduled to take place at America Square in the City of London on June 17. Investors are already preparing for one of Africa’s largest gatherings of the telecom industry.
“I expect this year to be extremely positive and successful,” said William Johnston, a banker in London who hopes his undisclosed bank will be able to invest in a number of new initiatives. “Last year we were skeptical, but this year the mobility of the telecom industry is ripe for investing and we expect to make a number of deals and discuss options.”
The conference is part of a series of meetings on financing emerging telecom markets growth and will review the latest trends and opportunities in mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, infrastructure investment, towers sales and leaseback, mobile licensing, Internet investment and regulations, the organizers said.
“The African telecom sector is entering a critical phase of growth and the conference will address the latest opportunities for mergers and acquisitions, financing and strategic investments in mobile and fixed infrastructure,” said Dominic Lowndes, the Managing Director of BroadGroup TMT Ventures, the conference’s researchers and publishers of TMT Finance News Alert, a leading resource for financial news.
“Bankers are preparing for a surge in asset sales across Africa as all the major telecom operators look to release value in infrastructure through towers sale and leaseback deals,” he added.
