RIM brings BlackBerry Storm2 to South Africa

Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the launch of the new BlackBerry® Storm2™ smartphone in South Africa, available from MTN and Vodacom countrywide.

RIM’s innovative touchscreen smartphone, BlackBerry® Storm™, received a boost in its second generation with new technology and applications. From exceptional media to productivity applications for business and personal use, says Deon Liebenberg, regional director for Sub-Saharan Africa at RIM.

New features include SurePress Technology which provides tactile feedback when pressing the touch-screen, a more accurate virtual keyboard, faster typing and multi key actions combinations. The new BlackBerry® Storm2™ has a sleek finish with chrome accents and slopes edges, featuring a high resolution 360×480 display at 148 ppi, global connectivity support such as UMTS/HSPA, EDGE/GPRS/GSM and Wi-Fi networks, a 3.2 MP camera with variable zoom, autofocus, flash and video recording, Bluetooth, build-in GPS and media player, as well as support for BlackBerry Desktop Manager for PCs an Macs.

Besides its appealing appearance, BlackBerry offers a storage of 16GB on its memory card slot and can accommodate easily 32GB when available. Also, the access to BlackBerry App World enhances the BlackBerry experience with more applications, developed specifically for BlackBerry, to choose from.

BlackBerry’s fifth series operating system is now capable of managing Microsoft Exchange email folders, access remote files share, forward appointments and view calendar appointments on the handset, to name just a few.
