More than 4 million South Africans have chosen the new GoTyme Bank app

GoTyme Bank (formerly TymeBank) has reached a major digital banking milestone, with more than 4 million downloads of its new app. The achievement reflects growing customer adoption of GoTyme Bank’s digital banking experience, designed to make banking simpler, smarter and more secure for South Africans. The app has been the top-ranked finance app across major app stores since launching in February 2026, further reinforcing its customer trust.

As more customers move to the new GoTyme Bank app, the bank is accelerating its phased migration away from its legacy digital banking platforms. The GoTyme Bank internet banking platform will be discontinued from 27 July 2026, followed by the old TymeBank app in the coming weeks. Customers are encouraged to download and use the new GoTyme Bank app as their main way to bank.

The new app gives customers access to the full GoTyme Bank experience, including enhanced security, more card controls, improved navigation and a growing range of banking features and benefits. Customers can also access features such as GoalSave, with the ability to earn 10% interest, free instant payments of up to R5 000 per transaction, and a free personalised GoTyme Bank Visa virtual card for local and international spend.

With the majority of app-active customers now on the GoTyme Bank app, select features are being removed from the old TymeBank app and are now only available in the new GoTyme Bank app.

Features now exclusively available in the GoTyme Bank app:

• Lotto
• Electricity
• Airtime and data
• Bank statement requests
• Proof of bank account requests

Existing customers do not need to open a new account. They can log into the new GoTyme Bank app with their existing credentials, while their bank card, account number and balance remain unchanged. Customers who currently use internet banking will also need to move to the new app before the platform is discontinued at the end of July 2026.

“The message to customers is simple: your account stays the same, your money stays safe, and the new GoTyme Bank app gives you more features, more controls and greater simplicity to manage your money with confidence and ease,” added Cundall. “We encourage customers who are still using internet banking or the old TymeBank app to switch now and get comfortable with the new app before these legacy platforms are discontinued.”

Customers can download the new GoTyme Bank app from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery.
