n_chamisa_1.jpgAccording to a report on, African mobile network provider MTN has expressed interest in acquiring Zimbabwe’s third largest mobile operator Telecel.

According to the article, an MTN executive said that the South African headquartered company was ready to enter the Zimbabwean arket, but hadn’t decided finally whether to acquire an existing player, or apply for a new license.

Government owned Telecel, recently valued at around US$500 million, seems like a perfect candidate for acquisition, as it would give the Zimbabwean government a much-needed cash injection.
MTN operates in more than 20 countries in Africa and the Middle east, with almost 100 million mobile subscribers making use of its services.
