ICASA said in a statement: “(ICASA) drafted the draft supplementary code of practice on Advertising, Sponsorships and other forms of Commercial Promotion for radio and television broadcasting service licensees which will be submitted to the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa for inclusion in their Code after proper consultation with the public.”

ICASA published draft regulations on Advertising, Infomercials and Sponsorship with the intention of repealing the 1999 regulations, relating to the definition of Advertising and the Regulation of Infomercials and Programme Sponsorship in respect of broadcasting activities.

The new regulations aim to clearly define acceptable practice in this regard.
