SAP has appointed Martin Gunther Schirmer as Executive Sales Director for Large Enterprises (LE) in Africa. He replaces Errol Strydom, who had recently retired from the position. In line with SAP’s strategy to elevate performers within their ranks to top leadership positions, Schirmer’s appointment was confirmed by SAP Africa MD, Pfungwa Serima.
Schirmer joined SAP in 1995, and says of his new appointment: “I am excited to have the opportunity to introduce our products and increase our footprint in the region. With more than 30 years of industry and business process expertise embedded in our software solutions, I have no doubt that our customers will continue to gain the ability to swiftly deploy innovative business models and re-assemble underlying business processes to execute corporate strategy which drives the true alignment of IT with business.”
The Large Enterprise division is a key division for SAP, as it focuses on first tier customers on the African continent. As head of the division, Schirmer will be responsible for formulating and implementing SAP’s LE strategy, focusing on assisting customers gear their management and IT functions to weather the current economic crisis, and beyond 2010.
Schirmer was born in Germany and is a qualified chartered accountant (CA (SA)). He also holds a qualification from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and several SAP technology certifications.
