Cisco Systems has opened a second African training academy at the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute in Kenya (AFRALTI).
The academy answers the challenges of rapid development in Kenya’s ICT sector, which requires regulatory bodies, telecommunication players and learning institutions to upgrade their training, said Shahab Meshki, Cisco general manager for East Africa.
AFRALTI is an inter-governmental organization that provides human resources capacity building in ICT. The organization expects that the training will help it respond more quickly to problems faced by member countries: Angola, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
The first Cisco Academy Training Centre on the continent is located at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa.
