Tanzania: Trade union unveils mobile money transfer platform

The Tanzanian Informal Sector Worker Union (ISWU) has unveiled a new mobile money transfer service. According to the Union, the mobile money transfer platform has been dubbed “Dau-Pesa.”

The union has introduced the mobile money transfer platform in order to enable residents to make payments to various services. These services include: Luku, Dawasco, DSTV, and Zuku.

Dau-Pesa director, Dauda Salmin stated that: “Customers can make Dau-Pesa transactions using their phones on the Vodacom, Tigo, Airtel or Zantel networks. Another way of payment is the Dau-Pesa card, which will enable them to pay bills by visiting their bank.”

According to Salmin, Dau-Pesa is also available in Kenya and Rwanda, and the company is planing to reach a multitude of East African countries over the next 12 months.
