South Africa: GoMetro Mini to support 11 official languages

South African transport mapping start-up GoMetro has introduced a new version of its mobile transport application site GoMetro Mini. According to the developers, GoMetro has now been equipped with all 11 official South African languages.

According to the company, the platform has been designed to work on older devices. Additionally, it has been designed in to use a minimum amount of data when accessing the service. The services on offer include train and bus times for all major cities in the country.

CEO Justin Coetzee stated that: “GoMetro is sometimes the first internet site that a commuter from a township in South Africa will ever have visited. He said local transport information is very relevant content for commuters and hearing about GoMetro motivates some users to try using the internet for the very first time.”

Back in 2014, GoMetro was recognised on the global stage, where it won a MEF Award at the Global Mobile Forum in San Francisco. The award was presented for the Best Innovation in a Growth Market.
