Packard Bell has entered the smartphone market with the launch of its first handset, the Daytona G16 Pro, an Android-powered device aimed at consumers seeking premium features at an affordable price.

The launch also marks another first for the brand: a fully AI-generated advertising campaign. Developed using artificial intelligence from concept and scriptwriting through to visuals, audio and motion graphics, the campaign showcases how AI is transforming creative production.

“Our entry into the smartphone market represents a bold new chapter for Packard Bell,” said Ross Tucker, Country Manager and General Manager for Packard Bell South Africa. “The Daytona G16 Pro reflects our commitment to innovation, performance and intelligent design. Launching it with an AI-generated campaign demonstrates how AI is reshaping both technology and creativity.”

Powered by Android 15, the Daytona G16 Pro features a 6.75-inch display, an octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also supports dual 4G LTE SIM cards and includes a 50MP AI-powered main camera, paired with a 13MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

Designed with an aluminium frame and edge-to-edge display, the smartphone combines a premium look with practical features. Buyers also receive a USB Type-C charger and a transparent protective cover in the box.

Packard Bell says the AI-generated marketing campaign draws inspiration from South African culture, featuring Gen Z consumers in urban nightlife settings with the theme song “Ring My Bell.” The company believes AI can significantly reduce production time while opening new creative possibilities.

“The Daytona G16 Pro is a product born in the AI era,” Tucker added. “It felt only natural to introduce it through a campaign created with the same technology that inspired its development.”

The Packard Bell Daytona G16 Pro is available from R1,999 through selected South African retailers, including Bash (Hi Online), TFG, Makro and Takealot. The AI-powered campaign is now running across digital, social media and broadcast platforms worldwide.
