Siemens Digital Industries Software has completed the acquisition of DownStream Technologies, a prominent provider of PCB manufacturing data preparation solutions. The move broadens Siemens’ offerings in the small and medium-sized business (SMB) electronics market, enhancing its end-to-end capabilities from design through to manufacturing readiness.
“This acquisition marks a key milestone for Siemens EDA in serving mid-sized PCB customers,” said Mike Ellow, CEO of Siemens EDA. “By integrating DownStream’s solutions, we can offer improved time-to-market, quality, and cost efficiency—delivering a comprehensive digital thread from design to production.”
Headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and founded in 2002, DownStream Technologies specializes in tools that streamline PCB design validation, documentation, and manufacturing preparation. Its flagship CAM350 suite enables users to visualize, verify, and automatically prepare PCB data for fabrication. Meanwhile, its patented BluePrint-PCB software is widely recognized for automating detailed manufacturing documentation—reducing errors and accelerating the transition from design to production.
Integrating these tools with Siemens’ PCB design portfolio will create a more connected and efficient workflow, enhancing digital continuity and manufacturing readiness for customers of all sizes.
“Joining Siemens is a tremendous opportunity for us to scale our innovations within a globally trusted ecosystem,” said Rick Almeida, founder of DownStream Technologies. “Together, we’re positioned to deliver fully integrated, end-to-end solutions that empower designers to move from concept to manufacturing with greater speed and confidence.”
This acquisition aligns with Siemens’ broader mission to support digital transformation through its Xcelerator platform—offering software, hardware, and services that enable organizations to optimize product development and create sustainable innovations.
