LG’s newest addition to the G series makes its way to South Africa
The LG G8SThinQ retails from R11, 999.00 and will be available exclusively in Mirror Black.

The LG G8SThinQ will soon be available in South Africa, and according to the company, it’s here to boast its ‘exceptional user experience, making it a great choice for consumers looking for a premium smartphone’.

It will be available through Vodacom from 8 July 2019.

The LG G8SThinQ Z Camera utilises Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor technology that gives users a choice of convenient and secure biometric recognition options.

Hand ID scans a user’s unique circulatory pattern with infrared light to unlock the phone in the dark, just as it would during the day. The same technology is used with Face Unlock, the Z Camera’s infrared light and 3D point clouds accurately trace the contours and features of the users face in order to unlock the phone.

The last biometric feature is called Air Motion — it is a touchless command interface that allows users to perform various actions from playing music and video playback to taking screenshots, without having to touch the screen.

The improved triple-lens camera – with the widest field of view to date at 137˚ – allows users to enjoy continuous zoom capability without any lag or colour distortion.

The front camera sports a standard lens Z Camera, which supports features such as Portrait and Spotlight. The addition of the Z Camera quickly measures distances to help produce portraits with more depth and feel. Spotlight detects the user’s facial curvature and simulates studio lighting to bring professional quality and dramatic edge to selfies.

With Video Depth Control, videos shot on the LG G8SThinQ benefit from a beautiful bokeh effect that puts the subject in sharp focus against a soft, blurred background. And it also comes ready with Steady Cam which delivers smooth, clear videos without the use of a gimbal.

Equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and a vivid 6.2-inch FHD+ FullVision OLED display (2248 x 1080), the LG G8SThinQ is a multimedia powerhouse. The handset continues LG’s legacy of superior mobile audio, fitted with stereo speakers that deliver a rich, textured performance and immersive surround sound with the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack and DAC.

The design provides easy one-handed operation, has a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass and a comfortable grip. Out of the box, consumers can expect 6G RAM, 128GB storage, MIL-STD 810G compliance and IP68 water and dust resistance. The LG G8SThinQ will be available in three compelling colours: Mirror Black, Mirror Teal, and Mirror White.
