Day one of the Internet of Things Forum Africa (#IOTFA2018), which took place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, South Africa between 14 and 15 March 2018 saw high-level executives and influential decision makers convene to discuss the latest technology solutions, specifically in IoT, in various industries including finance, transport, agriculture, energy as well as manufacturing.

Exhibitors such as Bosch, Yodiwo, Nybsys, Comsol as well as sponsors gathered to showcase their latest solutions and discussed the advantages of the Internet of Things and analytics.


Opening remarks delivered by Chief Executive Officer of SqwidNet, Reshaad Sha, touched on the Intelligence of Things. Sha shared some insight on the solutions Sqwidnet offers and how they can benefit customers in the IoT playing field.

Other topics discussed included how policy regulation can support the advancement of IoT, IoT strategies that can unlock true business value as well as well as the future of Artificial Intelligence in cybercrime.

Day one featured two tracks namely a Security Track, sponsored by Dimension Data, at the track Paul Potgieter – who is General Manager of The Internet of Things for the Middle East and Africa region – discussed security regarding connected devices. The second track, which focused on transport, was sponsored by Ansys and Vula Telematix and also touched on traffic management of the future.
