According to a report via ENCA, protests have intensified across South Africa as students continue their demand for no fee increases at various tertiary institutions across the country.

The report reveals that, following Wits University students’ ongoing protests over fees, Rhodes University and UCT have shut with students clashing with police at some campuses.

With the protest reaching boiling point, Eye Witness News revealed that motorists on Empire Road outside Wits University claimed that protesting students had allegedly attacked cars with sticks. The report reveals that students however claimed that motorists were allegedly trying to ram them over during their ‘peaceful’ protest.

Many protesting students have taken their demonstration outside campus, and online, after the council cancelled a feedback meeting over the decision to suspend fee hikes for 2016. The protests have now spread across the country, with the universities of Fort Hare and the Free State also joining in on the campaign via the latest hashtag to rock social media: #FeesMustFall.

While the hashtag has been used in order to allow students to protest, it has also allowed many Africans to voice their opinion on the protest action, which can be found below.
