For every Rand that a customer recharges with from Monday to Sunday, Cell C will reward them with not just part, but 100% of that Rand value to use over that weekend. For example, simply recharge with R20 and get R20 airtime value for FREE to use over the weekend. All recharges performed in the week accumulate towards your total bonus airtime to be used over the weekend.

The airtime can be used to make Cell C to Cell C calls, send SMSes and MMSes or for Internet data usage.  Premium rated services and all bundle recharges such as All in One vouchers will not qualify for the free bonus airtime.

“With this promotion, Cell C is keeping with the spirit of bringing simpler more affordable services to South African mobile users.  Customers will know exactly how much they will get over the weekend, because its exactly the amount they recharged with during the week,” says Cell C CEO, Alan Knott-Craig.

To make sure that the service is as simple as possible and to reward our existing customers for their loyalty, all customers on the 99 Cents For Real tariff plan will automatically be eligible for the Weekend Special promotion, no opt-in is required. Customers on other prepaid tariff plans can migrate to the 99 Cents For Real plan by dialling *147*1*1# from their prepaid Cell C phone. Once they have migrated they will automatically get the Free Weekend Special on their first recharge.

New customers can buy a Cell C prepaid starter pack, recharge and get their free airtime. Customers from other networks looking to keep their numbers can port to Cell C within 24 hours.

There is no minimum recharge value required to qualify for bonus airtime and there is no maximum limit to the bonus airtime a customer can receive.

When making calls or messaging over the weekends, the bonus airtime will be used first, before their normal airtime is used. Bonus airtime accumulated during the week that is not used over the weekend will expire permanently at midnight on that Sunday.

“Using the Rand value, instead of offering free minutes means customers can choose how they spend their money, be it for voice, data or messaging,” says Knott-Craig.

The promotion will be available to customers from 15 October and ends on 13 January 2013.
