Social network Twitter has struck a content-sharing deal with Yahoo, the second largest search engine on the web.
The partnership will allow Twitter to place its information across all of Yahoo’s properties, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Yahoo has already signed a similar agreement with Facebook, sharing content with the world’s largest social network.
“Yahoo seems content not building its own social network. One of its rivals, Google , also has deals with Twitter and Facebook, but it also has Google Buzz”, writes mashable.com.
The new Yahoo-Twitter relationship will translate into Twitter feed integration in Yahoo Mail and other Yahoo properties, ability to update Twitter status directly from Yahoo, and Twitter updates integration in Yahoo’s Search engine and other properties such as Yahoo News, Sports, Finance, Entertainment etc.
On the other hand, Yahoo will have full access to real-time Twitter updates. The company’s officials said that using tweets will improve Yahoo’s search results and engage users through real-time search integration, available immediately. This integration is expected to go live this week.
I think this will become more common in the near future as these software giants fight for market share. You’ll start seeing more of them team up.
