Vodacom launches tourist kiosks

vodacom_ceo2.jpgVODACOM, South Africa’s leading cellular network is launching specialised, world-class information kiosks around the country to assist the local and international fans with their tourist and mobile communication needs before and during major events taking place in South Africa.

The kiosks will show off the best of South Africa and provide a crucial focal-point of information for visitors, helping to grow the country’s reputation as a friendly and profoundly interesting world-class destination with a friendly welcoming smile, officials said.


“We are always proud to be the greatest supporter of sport in South Africa. This fits in line with our continued focus of bringing products and services closer to the consumer. With our roaming support for voice and data services, we will certainly give all visitors who grace our shores, a truly memorable Vodacom and South African experience.” said Enzo Scarcella, Vodacom’s Managing Executive for Brand.

Thousands of local and international visitors will be able to access information on various major tournaments currently taking place in the coutry, where to stay, tourist attractions in the host cities, how to get around and how to get connected via mobile phone or to the internet using 3G. The information kiosks have been strategically placed in prominent shopping malls, hotels and airports, he said.

Vodacom brand ambassador’s will be readily available to assist the users of the terminals and will provide free technical support to Vodacom subscribers, including live demonstrations of handsets and roaming for voice, data and 3G.

The concierge kiosk desk in the International Arrivals at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airport will also distribute free Supporter Boxes to all international visitors. The package will comprise of a Vodacom starter pack, beanie, Wi Fi Connection Manager CD, Lanyard, ticket holder, Drawstring bag and an international adapter.

The kiosks can be found in the shopping centres around the country, namely Sandton (Johannesburg), The Zone (Rosebank), Greenstone Mall, Eastgate (Johannesburg), Northgate (Johannesburg), Menlyn Park (Pretoria), Mimosa (Bloemfontein), Waterfall Mall (Rustenburg), Fourways Mall (Johannesburg), Gateway (Durban), V&A Waterfront (Cape Town), Maponya Mall (Johannesburg) and Parow Mall (Cape Town).

Medium-sized kiosks will be made available at Gold Reef City (Johannesburg), Ushaka Marine World (Durban), Robben Island (Cape Town), Table Mountain (Cape Town), V&A Waterfront (Cape Town), Kruger National Park (Nelspruit) and Sun City (Rustenburg).

Smaller kiosks will be placed at the following hotels, Don Suites (Sandton), Rosebank Hotel (Don Suites), Rivonia (Don Suites), Avalon guest house (Pretoria), Helevy heritage hotel (Bloemfontein), Isibaya Hotel (Umhlanga), Bantry Bay (Cape Town), Don Suites (Cape Town) and V&A Waterfront hotel (Cape Town).
