Nokia Siemens Networks releases Corporate Responsibility report

Nokia Siemens Networks has released its Corporate Responsibility report for 2008, highlighting the potential for its products and services to support social and economic development, as well as making positive impact on climate change.

The report covers the company’s ethical approach to business, including supply chain auditing and self-assessment of Nokia Siemens Networks’ manufacturing facilities. This is the first full reporting year for the infrastructure provider since the inception of the Corporate Responsibility report in 2007.

Highlights for 2008 report include a reduction in energy consumption of the company’s real estate operations lowering power usage by 12 percent and carbon dioxide emissions by 13 percent.

17 percent of the electrical energy for Nokia Siemens Networks facilities came from renewable sources, compared to 10 percent in 2007. 88 percent of solid waste was reused, recycled or used as energy.
