Nombulelo Moholi has been appointed as the new managing director of Telkom’s South African business unit, Telkom SA.
Telkom chief executive officer, Reuben September, said that the 49-year-old’s experience in the telecoms industry, as well as her previous tenure at the company, would enhance the growth of Telkom SA.
Says Mr. September: “I am delighted that Pinky (Moholi) has decided to rejoin Telkom, a place she knows well and where she made her mark as a key member of the executive team. I am confident that she will put her undoubted leadership skills to good effect in running the biggest division in our Group,”
“Telkom is refocussing to maintain its leadership position in South Africa while building a strong footprint on the continent. A heightened customer focus is core to our strategy going forward while growth in the area of mobile capability is another key focal area. Pivotal to the delivery on our new strategy and vision is strong and experienced leadership. Pinky certainly brings this as she has more than 20 years of ICT experience, with added exposure to the financial services sector at a strategic level.”
Moholi will take over the reigns at Telkom’s biggest business unit in May 2009. She had previously left Telkom in 2005 to join the Nedbank Group, where she has served as the Chief Strategy and Corporate Affairs Officer. She was also a member of their Executive Committee for over three years.
The appointment o Moholi follows a major organisational restructuring exercise. Under the new structure, the Telkom Group is divided into three business units: the Telkom SA business unit, Telkom International and Telkom Data Centre Operations.
