Africa to benefit from laptop price cut by AMD

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), manufacturer of laptops, is reducing the price of its products in a bid to expand its business to Africa, Asia and Middle East.

Advanced Micro Devices has offices in Johannesburg, South Africa where the company provides essential services to the individual companies and the corporate world.

The company’s new affordable laptop called Yukon, is designed to provide a full PC experience without compromising features.

Bahr Mahony, AMD director of Product Marketing, said the laptops currently under construction would not change anything except the slashing down of the prices to cushion consumers.

Other additional features on the AMD laptops would include a thin and light laptop screen with an average size of 10-to-14 inches. More interestingly, the laptops will cost US$499 while others go for US$1 000 more.—ITNewsAfrica.
