Technology to play crucial role in 2010’s security and health–Motorola expert

SECURITY remains a major concern ahead of the historic 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, and one of the world’s leading communications and technology firms, Motorola, is designing advanced devices for the occasion.

While police and other state security agents will be battling to weed out crime with their handcuffs, button sticks and firearms, Motorola, is putting together highly advanced equipment to enable the security personnel deal decisively with crime during the tournament.

Apart from designing the security devices to detect criminals and their gadgets, Motorola is set to come up with health equipment designed to cater for emergency and safety of soccer players, including supporters during the matches.

Motorola’s safety and security expert, Raphael Vdeogon, told several dozens of media and business leaders in technology last week that his international company has engaged the government of South Africa, South Africa Police Service (SAPS) and the health department officials to learn and implement technology which is aimed at saving human life, protecting the players and the general public during matches.

“Motorola has since started working with the government of South Africa and its security services in trying to bring the relevant technology for 2010 World Cup aimed at averting crime during matches,” said Vdeogon.

Apart from the usual hidden video cameras to detect crime, Motorola will come up with something new and unique to improve and beef up the security’.

Vdeogon could not reveal the name of the new devices to be installed during the tournament, but promised that the new technology would bring the much needed relief in terms of security.
