The Galaxy Studio pop-up – which is according to the company an immersive customer interaction that demonstrates the power of integrating multiple mobile devices – at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannesburg is one of 12 Galaxy Studios that are being set up across the world. The Johannesburg Galaxy Studio is the seventh installation after London, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, New York, Seoul and Tokyo.
Craige Fleischer, Director of Integrated Mobility at Samsung Electronics South Africa stated that: “Samsung enriches peoples’ lives through trailblazing mobile devices that enable truly connected living. We provide consumers with connectivity, knowledge, applications and functionality to create the life you want.”
According to the company the Samsung Galaxy Studio is expected to provide consumers with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the latest Samsung technology, including the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones. The Studio tracks the evolution of the Samsung Galaxy S series devices showcasing the full range of Galaxy-series devices and how they connect to form an integrated ecosystem that is intended to make consumers’ everyday lives easier.
“Our constant drive to improve the lives of our customers and consumer alike is at the heart of our business. Through the Galaxy Studio we can show them the abilities Samsung’s Galaxy range of products offer them to connect, share, organise and get more out of life,” added Fleischer.
By visiting the Studio, consumers can engage with Samsung’s range of devices. Apart from experiencing the world of virtual reality through Samsung’s brand new flagship Galaxy S7 smartphone and Gear VR, visitors will also be treated to a 4D experience. The company revealed that there is a host of premium products to test and play with. Visitors can snap selfies and pictures with the Dual Pixel camera on the S7 smartphone or test their fitness levels with the Gear S2 wearable smartwatch, linked to the Galaxy S7.
Samsung entered the mobile market with its mobile initiative in 1983, and revealed its first handset, the SH-100, in 1988. Since then the company has had many mobile devices and in 2008 embarked on the full touch screen journey, with all Samsung smartphones today featuring full touch screens. In 2010 the first Galaxy S-series entered the market, setting the tone for the rest of the Galaxy series as a high-end Android smartphone.
This Galaxy Studio will give visitors a look at the full Galaxy ecosystem and the opportunity to experience the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge functions and capabilities, the Gear S2 wearable smartwatch, Gear 360 camera, Gear VR and the ultimate in virtual reality, the Gear VR 4D theatre.
Samsung’s wearable products series (Gear) represent its commitment to innovation. “We take risks to create and integrate technology designed to change the lives of users by letting them live heads up and hands free. These new devices embrace each person’s individuality while offering users instinctive, convenient and completely new ways to stay connected,” Fleischer concludes.
The studio is currently open to the public up until 30 April, 2016 at the Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannesburg. The Studio opening hours are from 9am to 8pm Mondays to Saturdays and from 9am to 6pm on Sundays.
