Cell C hikes prices in 2017

Cell C customers can expect to spend a little more this year. This, according to Cell C, is due to the inflation rate and the GDP growth.The telecoms released a statement on their website informing all their customers of the price increase from the 1 February.

According to Fin24, mobile network services costs resulted in the price hikes. Cell C sent a message to its customers informing them of the changes. The mobile network further informed customers that Nite Dita bundle will be removed from SmartData. Customers on contract will continue to receive their Nite Data allocation until the end of the contract term.

SmartData contract customers will now spend R45 on 500MB while the 300MB went up from R60 to R65. On their website, Cell C released a list of all the price changes. Also on their website the company released a letter informing customers of their intentions to submit the amended tariff plans to communications regulator the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) for approval.

WhatsApp bundles are also set to increase in price from R7,50 to R1 while Trace Mobile prepared users will also say goodbye to free Whatsapp as from the February 1, 2017.
