Airtel Kenya has revealed that it will reduce call rates by 60 percent and offer free incoming calls for postpaid and prepaid customers roaming in Rwanda. The move came in swiftly after Safaricom reviewed its tariff rate in Rwanda. Safaricom set the bar high by offering its customers up to 60 percent discount while roaming in Rwanda.
According to Airtel Kenya, outgoing calls while roaming in Rwanda will now be charged at KES 10 per minute, down from KES 25 per minute. The new rates apply to customers making calls from Kenya to Rwanda and customers making calls from Rwanda to Kenya. Airtel Kenya prepaid customers roaming in Rwanda will be able to top up by buying scratch cards from any Airtel Rwanda point of sale.
