Gugu Duda was appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) starting from 1 March 2012. Dina Pule, Communications Minister, announced Duda’s 5 year appointment today.

Duda’s relevant qualifications, skills, capabilities and required experience is a positive sign. As a trained chartered accountant, Duda previously served as First National Bank CFO. Thereafter she joined Wipcapital as executive investment manager, before becoming vice strategy president at AngloGold Ashanti.
Obtaining her BComm in accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), she completed her Honours degree at the University of South Africa (UNISA). Duda went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management and a certificate in Theory of Accountancy.
Pule and the SABC Board congratulated Duda on her appointment, wishing her success in turning around the public broadcaster.
Duda’s appointment re-affirms Pule’s commitment to filling SABC executive positions swiftly. The SABC seem set on bringing back cost-effective broadcasting services to the South African public.
