Hardware manufacturer LG Electronics South Africa (LGESA) has warned customers of fraudulent communication which promises clients cash rewards.

The company said it had learnt of several emails and sms messages currently in circulation which falsely claim that the recipient of the email or sms had won a sum of money from LGESA.
In a statement distancing the company from such activities, the firm said the communication appears to look official but was in fact fraudulent.
“LGESA hereby informs all recipients of such communication that the communication is not generated by LGESA. It is suspected that the communication is a hoax and/or a scam intended to abuse the credibility of LGESA and/or possibly commit a fraudulent transaction on the recipient of the communication,” said the company.
It cautioned all recipients against disclosing any personal and/or confidential information in response to such communication as LGESA would not be held liable for any resultant loss.
