Jimmy Morakile, group manager for transformation at Business Connexion has been elected as a vice president of the Information Technology Association (ITA).
The election took place during the 77th annual general meeting in Johannesburg. Morakile will be one of three vice presidents at ITA.
The ITA is the official representative body of the ICT industry. The key function is to promote and protect the interests of its members and to uphold the industry’s code of ethics.
“The delivery of ICT solutions in South Africa does not happen independently of the social and commercial conditions which prevail in the country. Through my participation and contribution to the activities of the ITA, we will seek to further accelerate industry involvement in fostering social change through the judicial and appropriate application of ICT solutions,” says Morakile.
As the chairperson of the Busa Transpol Sub-committee on skills development and employment equity, Morakile represents Busa in the Presidential BEE Advisory Council Sub-committee on skills development and employment equity.
“Our approach to ICT solution delivery is encompassed in the ‘Connective Intelligence’ ethos. By contributing prominently to the ITA, Morakile is living Connective Intelligence – joining minds and technology to create the extraordinary. That’s what it takes to achieve excellence for the industry and for South Africa”, says Business Connexion CEO Benjamin Mophatlane.
Morakile is a long-term member of the association and he values the opportunity to contribute to the organisation’s direction. The appointment forms part of an integral aspect of good corporate citizenship.
