Google Search adds new features

Google’s search engine got smarter with two new features: answer highlights in search results and rich snippets for events, writes mashable.com.

The aim of the new search features is to provide answers rather than just results when searching Google, by bolding the answers in the results, not just the searched words.

Powered by Google Squared research, the improvements come very handy and work best with information such as numbers. However, not all your questions would be answered like this, admits Google.

The rich snippets for events shows results with events showcasing all events as snippets, with individual links highlighting name, date and location of the event. This helps event search to return more data.

Although subtle, the improvements are part of Google’s strategy to further differentiate itself from other search engines and deliver an innovative service.
