Research In Motion (RIM), one of the world’s leaders in mobile communications market, today announced its third quarter results for the period ending 28th November. Revenue for the stated period of fiscal 2010 was $3.92 billion, up 41% from $2.78 billion in the same quarter of last year and up 11% from $3.53 billion in the previous quarter, with a staggering 82% sales from BlackBerry smartphone devices.
According to Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO at RIM, the company shipped approximately 10,1 million devices during the third quarter, raising BlackBerry numbers to 75 million since the highly acclaimed smartphone’s launch. The total BlackBerry subscriber account base reach 36 million, after more 4,4 million BlackBerry subscribers were added in the reported period.
Apart from gadgets, RIM registered 14% revenue from services, 2% from software and 2% from additional services. Revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010, ending February 27, 2010 is expected to be in the range of $4.2-$4.4 billion, while subscriber additions might reach 4,4-4,7 million.
