Marco Lippuner has been appointed Vice President and Managing Director of Siemens IT Solutions and Services South Africa and the Cluster Africa with effect from 1 September 2009.
Lippuner has been with the Siemens Group since 1992. His extensive experience of the IT solutions and services market sector includes four years as Head of the Sales Region for Southern Africa and Central/Southern Europe. During this time, Lippuner was responsible for Siemens Communication Group’s Fixed Network business for those regions. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering.
For the past two years, Lippuner has fulfilled the role of Head of Sales and Country Development in Siemens’ IT Solutions and Services Division with responsibility for sales management, marketing and country strategy in alignment with the vertical, business and delivery units. With the new cluster organisation in 2008 he also took over the SIS Sector Cluster Head position for Russia, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
Lippuner believes there is considerable untapped potential in the South African and African markets. “My chief tasks are to develop Siemens IT Solutions and Services SA into a successfully growing business, and to ensure our customers are satisfied with our services,” he says.
“One of my first steps will be to develop close relationships with our customers so that I can understand their requirements, listen and act accordingly. My objective is to gain the trust and respect of our employees as well as our customers.”
Siemens IT Solutions and Services is a leading international provider of information technology solutions and services, offering one-stop shopping for the complete IT service chain from consulting to systems integration, software engineering and IT infrastructure management.
“Information technology has developed from a specialist topic to become the backbone of virtually all business processes, where the ability to interlink all the diverse IT components in an enterprise – from the device level to production planning, right through to the over-arching control systems – is becoming increasingly important in all sectors,” Lippuner says.
In January 2007, Siemens responded to its customers’ wishes for integrated solutions by consolidating its worldwide IT solutions, services and software competencies. Customers can expect comprehensive IT solutions from Siemens, aligned to reflect their own industry-specific needs.
“Siemens IT Solutions and Services’ combination of wide-ranging information technology expertise, industry and process knowledge, as well as our status as an integral part of a leading global technology group, enable us to bring a unique service capability to our customers,” Lippuner points out. “In South Africa, we are focusing strongly on sector-specific solutions for the services, industrial, energy, healthcare and public sectors.”
