Electronic appliance and mobile phone manufacturer Samsung has established the “Samsung Global Environment Research Centre“, in an effort to promote business practices that will save the environment and improve the quality of human life.
Says Kun-Hee Lee, chairman of Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd: “The keywords for the future of energy are clean and effective. This means that, on the supply side, we need to develop alternative energy, which is clean and can replace current fossil fuel energy.”
Samsung Global Environment Research Centre was established to conduct environmental research and drive environmental policies across the organization.
Samsung has gone to great lengths to make products more energy efficient and minimizing harmful inputs.
In 2007, Samsung Securities and Samsung Investment Trust Management introduced the Samsung Global Water Fund and the Climate Change Fund, which invest in stable and sustainable firms focusing on environmental preservation and social responsibility.
Samsung also conducts diverse environmental activities, including special events and education aimed at World Water Day and World Environment Day, as well as programs focused on recycling and restoring wetlands and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Really interesting stuff. Thanks for the update. I just added you to my Google News Reader.
