ANC holds Twitter debate prior to elections in South Africa

In an effort to win votes in the week running up to South Africa’s national and provincial elections on 22 April 2009, the African National Congress (ANC) is using Twitter, yet another online channel, in its electioneering efforts.

ANC national spokesperson Jessie Duarte will hold a live debate with the local and international Twitter community about the ANC’s policies and positions around the imminent elections.

Twitter is a popular social networking site based on short messages shared between linked community members.

In order to participate, Twitter users must go to http://twitter.com/ANC_Debate. The debate starts at 12h00 on Friday for an hour.
