MTN signs deal for creation of World Cup 2010 media center

MTN_FIFA2010.jpgMTN has partnered with the Johannesburg Expo Centre in the creation of a state-of-the-art media centre for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Called the MTN Expo Centre, the partnership will see a substantial upgrading of the facility. The partnership was formalized through a two-year deal, including the option to renew the contract.


Says MTN Chief Marketing Officer Serame Taukobong: “The partnership has perfect synergy in that the Expo Centre and MTN share the same values of igniting the passion of all South Africans, our approach to customers and fans is the same and we have the same belief and commitment to what we offer to consumers.”

It is expected that the venue will be the hub where both local and international media will work for the duration of the tournament. The venue will also serve as MTN’s hospitality venue for during the FIFA 2010 World Cup competition. Taukobong further states that “We will be inviting key customers to be guests of MTN for all Johannesburg-based games where they will be entertained and will watch the games on a big screen,”

The partnership will see the installation of some of the most advanced technological and mobile networks in the host country at the Expo Center. The technology will also be available for clients hosting events at the venue after the World Cup tournament.
