Globacom in billion dollar network upgrade deal

Myjoyonline.com has reported a multi-billion dollar deal between Globacom and telecom equipment company Alcatel-Lucent, which will see Globacom aggressively expanding its network capacity.

According to the article Globacom aims to up its cellular subscriber capacity to around 45 million, including expansion of 2G and 3G capabilities. The bulk of the contracted network upgrade will take place in Nigeria, but promises to enable Globacom’s growth throughout the African continent.
