Cell_C_logo.gifAccording to a report on the Business Day website (www.businessday.co.za), Cell C CEO Jeffrey Hedberg might not renew his contract at the South African mobile service provider. It is rumoured that he may join Telkom later this year.

The report further highlighted comments made by Hedberg about the speculation, quoting him as saying: “It’s nothing I’d be willing to comment on. The last thing I want to do, given the turnaround we have been able to do here, is to say anything that could bring instability into the team. My primary concern is that we continue to improve the performance of the company and I don’t want to say or do anything that could get in the way of that.”

The CEO has been with Cell C since 2006, and is widely seen as being responsible for the company’s turnaround to profitability.

According to the article, Hedberg had previously commented favourably on the possibility of a Telkom takeover of Cell C.
