Must Read

Authorities in Cape Town, South Africa have announced a mobile solution to the challenges of service delivery in the city. Residents of the coastal resort city can now report faults and water pipe bursts via sms to relevant city departments.

The announcement was made this week by Cape Town Mayor, Helen Zille, who lauded the initiative as one that would improve service delivery

The free sms service will also alleviate the financial burden of either making phone calls to, or travelling to, city authorities to report problems.

The city deals with an estimated 40,000 faults reported on a monthly basis. Residents can report faults by sending a sms, containing details of the fault, to the number 31373.
