Nokia has announced that about 1,700 of the company’s employees would be affected by proposed changes in its structures.
Speciofically, the mobile manufacturing giant will make changes to its Devices and Markets units, Corporate Development Office and global support functions.
In a press release, the company said that the restructuring is aimed at matching a decrease in global consumer demand due to the prevailing negative global economic situation.
The move will enabling streamlining of Nokia’s research, development and support functions, and forms part of previously announced plans to adjust operational and cost paramaters.
