In a corporate social responsibility initiative to improve HIV / AIDS related health services in Kenya, Telkom Kenya and Qualcomm are partnering to provide much needed technology solutions to health care centers.
Qualcomm has committed US$300,000 to the project that will see the provision of broadband internet connectivity, desktop PC’s, e-mail accounts and technical support by Telkom Kenya to at least 16 health care centers in the East African country.
The ultimate goal of the project is to increase effectiveness and efficiency of the logistics around antiretroviral care and pharmaceutical distribution out of these centers.
HIV / AIDS is one of the country’s most challenging health issues, and was declared a national disaster by the Kenyan government as far back as 1999. The project will see the two companies, along with other private sector sponsors, partner with relevant governmental agencies in order to improve service delivery.
