Bell Benin Telecommunications (BBCOM), one of Benin’s leading mobile operators has received a major boost after Intec clinched a contract to provide it with Interconnect bureau services.

“The telecoms market is at a critical stage in Benin with subscriber numbers growing rapidly on a monthly basis,” said Issa Salifou, President of BBCOM. “The Intec Interconnect Service Bureau gives us unique access to a premium quality product, which ultimately gives us a much stronger commercial foothold in our market.”
The deal makes Intec one of the leaders in the African wholesale billing market, where close to 40 operators are now using Intec technology. The system is delivered with support of the Ibex group through Intec’s service bureau which affords emerging operators with a favourable economic model, enabling them to pay as they grow.
BBCOM is one of five operators in the Benin market where interconnection is a significant cost factor for emerging market players The Intec Service Bureau, run by experienced local partner Ibex, will give BBCOM essential competitive edge by delivering accurate invoices, vastly improved interconnection costs, the ability to easily solve existing billing disputes while delivering immediate ROI.
The Intec Service Bureau will also offer BBCOM a future transition path to an in-house dedicated system where the implementation is fully reusable.
