Sahara launches latest ImageBook based on Intel Centrino 2 technology

The company has expanded its range of digital lifestyle solutions and is targeting the mid level market, more specifically users that require a feature rich mobile solution that offers high speed, on-the-go computing.

“There is an increasing need for affordable, robust and feature-rich wireless technology within education. Users are demanding better performance and storage capabilities to facilitate greater productivity,” says Gary Naidoo, deputy MD at Sahara.

“PC and ICT literacy is still a key issue. This is a thriving area of the market where the rate of technology adoption is increasing in order to keep up with global skills set requirements. This solution combines the very best in processor and chipset technology for quick connectivity and also offers a high memory and storage capacity for effective management of multimedia files,” adds Naidoo.

Key features of the Sahara ImageBook 15WS include an Intel 2GHz Core, 2 Duo Mobile Processor, 2GB memory, a built-in 2.0 mega-pixel webcam, a 15-inch TFT LCD display, a 250GB hard disk drive and a super multi-DVD writer. It includes Quick Switching Speed, a feature that automatically switches the CPU to ‘hurry up and be idle’ mode – in other words it is controlled to switch off all unnecessary applications or running processes that are not being used at any given time.

Sahara has also confirmed that this offering can be customised to suit user requirements, taking into consideration factors such as operating systems and application software.

“The ImageBook is designed to meet the needs of a variety of users, including those that require high-definition graphics. The webcam further enhances the user experience by enabling easy web-based video communication and related applications.”
