SOUTH Africa’s largest privately owned national Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) network intergration and infrastructure management specialist, Integr8 Group Pty Limited, has been voted one of the winners of the 2008 Legatum Pioneers of Prosperity Africa Awards.
Intergr8 shared US$250, 000, with Kenya ‘s AAR Health, Safi Cleaning of Uganda, Africa Polysack Industries of Uganda and Gahaya Links of Rwanda.
The Grand prize of USD 100,000 was won by Superflux International, a leading secure prints solutions provider based in Nigeria , at a ceremony dedicated to the late Sir John Templeton and was also attended by President Mwai Kibaki of Kenya.
The prizes were handed over by Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, in a ceremony that was held in Kigali , Rwanda on Monday.
The Awards program, which was developed by Michael Fairbanks, recognises and rewards business leaders in Africa who serve as role models to the continent’s aspiring entrepreneurs.
Founded in 1928, Inter8 designs, implements and maintains the information, communication and telecommunication environment of many leading corporations across Africa , with an emphasis on bridging the digital divide.

In awarding the prizes, Legatum Managing Director and panel judge Alan McCormick commented.
