Zain takes cheaper call crusade into Uganda

Zain has taken its cheaper calls crusade to Uganda by offering customers free in-network calling between 6am and 6pm.

An IDG News report yesterday said with this new Zain offering, customers will be required to top up 2,000 Ugandan shillings (US$1.05) of airtime and register for the service each day they want to use it.
“Any Zain prepaid customer will be allowed to opt in on a daily basis,” explained Zain Uganda marketing executive Verenar Rugumire. “At 6 p.m., the free Zain-to-Zain calls automatically stop applying, and a customer will revert to your regular tariff plan.”
After opting in, customers can make an unlimited number of free in-network calls over the course of 12 hours, she said.
“This will help customers to really manage their operating costs, especially if they need to communicate frequently and for long periods during the day,” Rugumire added.
