The newly appointed head of Ericsson Market Unit Northern Africa and Ericsson Egypt President, Rafiah Ibrahim, brings with her more than 26 years of industry experience.
Her appointment took place in August 2008.
This appointment is directly in line with the company’s aim to spearhead the development of a strong diversified local and regional management team.
As the Market Unit Head of Northern Afirca, Rafiah automatically becomes a member of the Management Team for Ericsson’s CEMA region (Central Europe, Middle East & Africa).
Rafiah Ibrahim has worked for 16 years in Telekom Malaysia, beginning as an engineer before becoming a network control center manager. After that, she moved into sales and marketing, and then business development when Telekom Malaysia acquired a telecom license in Malawi.
Rafiah joined Ericsson Academy in Malaysia, heading sales and marketing, and after that she became the General Manager of the Enterprise Division in Ericsson Malaysia.
She was then employed as a Country Manager for Motorola Malaysia for three years.
Rafiah left Motorola for Ericsson as the Country Manager for Ericsson Bangladesh where she worked for two years before moving to Ericsson Middle East and began leading Warid MCA (Multi Customer Account) in 2006.
Rafiah was born in Malaysia and received her secondary and tertiary education in the UK, has a Masters Degree in Digital Communication Engineering from the prestigious Imperial College in London.
“Market Unit Northern Africa is one of the fast growing markets in Ericsson. The region has a lot of potential and challenges.
I foresee that working in this market unit would bring a great deal of challenges and joy on both professional and personal levels. I’m very excited and challenged for my new role,” said Mrs. Ibrahim.
