Nigeria’s Globacom, has expanded its prepaid roaming service to six additional countries. Glo Mobile subscribers will now have outbound roaming service in Spain, South Africa, Belgium, Turkey, Ukraine and Algeria.
Plans are also in the works to extend the service to the U.S. and several other European and Middle Eastern countries to complement the postpaid roaming service available in over 140 countries on the network, Odiase said.
“We are committed to the convenience of our subscribers. We want to make it possible for postpaid, as well as prepaid, subscribers to access our services, even when they are abroad on business or leisure,” Odiase stated in the press release.
To enjoy prepaid roaming service, he said, a Glo Mobile prepaid customer simply needs to recharge his or her account.
Glo prepaid roaming service is offered on CAMEL (Customized Application for Mobile Enhanced Logic) phase 2 roaming, Odiase explained. CAMEL phase 2 enables prepaid customer to make and receive calls, as well as receive text messages, while roaming outside Nigeria. Glo Mobile is the first to introduce CAMEL phase two roaming in the country.
