Norton AntiVirus now compatible with Leopard

Must Read

Workgroup’s Symantec division has announced the availability of Norton’s new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard-compatible version of its AntiVirus software.
Featuring new vulnerability protection technologies, this version delivers protection where many attacks occur “ through applications connected to the Internet”, says Arno Fourie, Symantec (Norton) product manager at Workgroup.
Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac also features a sleeker, redesigned user interface and enhanced performance,” he says. “Mac users
benefit as this version automatically detects and removes viruses in addition to scanning and cleaning downloaded files and email
attachments.”
AntiVirus 11 incorporates discrete and less obtrusive security alerts, and the product is designed to automatically update in the
background, allowing users to conduct their online activities without interruption.
It also offers an extra layer of protection against attacks that target software vulnerabilities. This signature-based protection
prevents threats from infecting systems and deletes and blocks malware and viruses from installing when downloading pictures, music and software.
The Mac version also detects and removes viruses and worms, preventing virus infected e-mail from spreading and protecting
against attacks. “Even Mac users can be sent a macro virus from a friend or co-worker on a PC,” says Fourie. “Moreover, while
Mac’s may seem immune to some threats, they can still pass malicious code onto other users via email, instant messenger or Web
links but Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac scans for both PC and Mac vulnerabilities, viruses and macro viruses.”
