The McAfee division at Workgroup has announced that McAfee has completed the acquisition of SafeBoot Holding for approximately $350 million in cash.
Through this acquisition, McAfee becomes a leader in the data protection market and well founded vendor that delivers endpoint,
network, Web, email and data security, as well as risk and compliance solutions.
“As a McAfee distributor, Workgroup will now too have access to SafeBoot’s policy-driven encryption technologies and these, coupled with McAfee’s Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) management capability, create a compelling data protection solution,” says Bernadine Botha, McAfee product manager at Workgroup.
McAfee plans to integrate SafeBoot technology into ePO, which will enable users to encrypt individual files and folders as well as the entire local hard dive for the widest possible range of devices, including PCs, laptops, smart phones, USB drives and PDAs.
SafeBoot’s mobile phone offerings will help advance McAfee’s current mobile solutions by allowing McAfee to offer a new suite of
integrated device protection and data security.
